Fisher

Item #3710
Clyde Fischer Mesquite
It's a small world after all. 25 years ago, my daughter dated a young man from the neighborhood. His father was from the Victoria area. In the late 60s, this man cut down a Mesquite Tree in order to make a mantel for his fireplace in the home he was building. He took the wood from the tree to a man he knew in Victoria. The man cut this mantel piece and was asked how much he was going to charge. He told him that he didn't want any money, but could he have the left over wood for use in knife handles. We recently re connected with the first person through church and senior activities. Recently he told me that he had a piece of Mesquite that he was going to get rid of. When I asked him about it, he related the above story. That's right, the man from Victoria was Clyde Fischer. You may already have a knife with handles from this tree. I do, I think. This piece is now for sale. I will split the proceeds with the person who gave this to me. It is 53 1/2 X 9 1/2 X 3 inches and weighs around 50 lbs. If you figure app. 7 cubic inches for the average knife handle, that would be about 215 handles less waste should equate to about 100 handles. Or this would make a nice rifle stock, or maybe 2. Signed paperwork will be included. Pick up only in Sugar Land, TX.
